“Show me a child before the age of 7 & I’ll show you the man/woman.”

Aristotle knew wtf was up on this: the programming we receive between the ages of 0-7 informs our perceptions and responses to the world for the rest of our lives.

…or does it?

Why the first 7 years are such a big deal:

Between the ages of 0 – 7, our brains are in alpha and theta wave cycles, which are the same state of brain waves a person is in when they are in hypnosis or meditation.

Why is that? Because during those first 7 years, we have a shit load to learn about how to stay alive in this world. Everything from social programming (so we aren’t exiled from the tribe), to language, to how to navigate the joys and dangers in the world.

We learned by observing our environment. In this hypnotic state, we absorb EVERYTHING easily. Alpha, theta, and delta brain wave states are SUPER LEARNING states of consciousness.

During these cycles, our subconscious mind is being programmed and accepts whatever information it receives as true. It is a hyper learning brain wave state.

Around the age of 7 or 8, our brains move into Beta which is our conscious waking state as adults. Beta is the brain wave state you are reading this in.

So whatever environment we grew up in, that subconscious programming radically informs our current perceptions of the world.

If you grew up in an environment filled with fear and stress (like I did), then you have some work to do. 

But even if you grew up in a wonderful environment, our parents or the world around us still tends to program in some limiting beliefs that can be messing with our subconscious now. For example, “money is the root of all evil” or other limiting group-think like that.

So how do we reprogram our subconscious minds to support the person we want to BE who has the life we desire?

It can actually be easier than one may think. And that’s where we will pick up next time.
